BBS Financial Economics

Economists study how society distributes resources, such as land, labour, raw materials, and machinery, to produce goods and services. They conduct research, collect and analyze data, monitor economic trends, and develop forecasts on a wide variety of issues, including energy costs, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, business cycles, taxes, and employment levels, among others.  Many economists specialize in a particular area of economics such as;
  • Macroeconomists
  • Industrial economists and organizational economists
  • Macroeconomists
  • Monetary economists and financial economists
  • International economists
  • Labor economists and demographic economists
  • Public finance economists
  • Econometricians

Many economists apply these areas of economics to health, education, agriculture, urban and regional economics, law, history, energy, the environment, and other issues.

BBS Actuarial science

Actuaries analyze past and present data to solve real business problems. A lot of actuaries work is about risk management: assessing how likely an event may be and the costs associated with it. To make things more challenging, actuaries really need to understand how businesses operate, they need to keep up to date with legislative changes, long-term demographic trends and have general commercial and economic awareness. The traditional areas in which actuaries operate are:

  • Consultancy
  • Investment,
  • Life Insurance
  • General Insurance
  • Pensions
  • Investment Management
  • Risk Management

Actuaries are also increasingly moving into other areas of the financial sector such as risk management, banking and capital project management, where their analytical skills can be employed.
