Developing a Model for financing housing and basic services for Informal Settlements – The case of Mukuru Settlement

The School of Finance and Applied Economics (SFAE) is currently undertaking a 2 year action research project titled “Improving Access to Justice and Basic Services in the Informal Settlements of Nairobi” in collaboration with the Strathmore Law School (SLS), University of Nairobi Department of Planning, Muungano wa Wanavijiji and Akiba Mashinani Trust (AMT). SFAE is tasked with developing a financing model that would address the market gap in provision of housing and basic services in Mukuru kwa Njenga and Mukuru kwa Ruben. The research is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
